| Like many artists, I have been painting since childhood and my subjects remain the same: animals, people and the interesting things they do. I am an art major from the University of Southern Mississippi, but recently got more serious about my painting after hurricane Ivan. Without power for over a week, I realized that painting did not depend on such resources, so I began with a portrait of our two cats, Jack and Jill, and the pet portrait trade began from there. |
| I like to make my paintings colorful and whimsical, using acrylics for their vivid colors and quick drying times. Several layers of color are used in the painting, which adds to the depth. Each portrait is a personal experience, capturing the unique spirit of the pet, their distinctive qualities, personality, colors and backgrounds that best reflect their disposition. |
| I enjoy doing these custom orders because people are always pleased to have something special and unique. Many pet portraits have been commissioned as gifts, and so far, everyone has really loved them. Even though my specialty is designing jewelry, sometimes the designs leave the metal and take to the canvas.
